Mr. and Mrs. Walfrid Johnson

Walfrid Johnson was born in Smaaland, Sweden in 1881. In 1910, he immigrated to the United States, taking a homestead in McLean County, ten miles northwest of Roseglen, North Dakota, and area that was to become Amundsville Township.

Carrie Rudie was born in Valdres, Norway in 1888. She came to the United States in 1914.

Walfrid and Carrie were married in 1915. In 1919, they bought a farm one mile north of their homestead, which their son, Clarence, later took over.

The Johnsons became the parents of four sons and one daughter: Victor, Arthur, Clarence, Willie, and Vivian. Willie died in infancy, and Arthur was killed in combat during World War II.
